Sunday: Worship

Pray:  Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord God, as we gather together today, help us to worship in faith and trust in your promises. Speak to us through the words of the Bible, that we would continue to grow in your grace. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Listen:  Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Praise the Lord and pray in his name! Tell everyone what he has done.2 Sing praises to the Lord! Tell about his miracles.3 Celebrate and worship his holy name with all your heart.4 Trust the Lord and his mighty power.5 Remember his miracles and all his wonders and his fair decisions. Psalm 105:1-5 ESV

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: What does it mean to worship God's name? Is that any different than worshipping God?

Child: Can you tell me about a time when you witnessed a miracle?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Lord God, give us a strong voice to praise your name and to share the wonders of your loving works with all world. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you look for the good things that God is doing each day. Amen.

Luke 24:33-35
And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread. (CEV)

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Luke 24:44-49 (ESV)

46 Jesus said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Why does Jesus want us to tell other people about his forgiveness?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Thank you Holy Father, that on the cross you forgave us of all our sins. When others hurt us or make us feel bad, help us to be forgiving people.  Help us to be kind instead of getting even.  In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May the Lord forgive you, and help you to forgive others. Amen.
