Sunday: Worship
Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Gracious Lord God, thank you for this day we have together. Bless each person here, and help us to be open to your Word. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
Psalm 27:2-3
Brutal people may attack and try to kill me, but they will stumble. Fierce enemies may attack, but they will fall. Armies may surround me, but I won’t be afraid; war may break out, but I will trust you. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: What does it mean to trust God? Have you ever been worried about something, and finally decided to leave it in God’s hands? What happened?
Child: When we hear about sad events, we can always “look for the helpers,” and know that God is with them. Who are some of God’s helpers that you have seen at work in the world? Tell us about them.
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Lord God, no matter what happens around us, you can use it for good in some way. Knowing this, we find peace and rest. Thank you for your love and protection. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you always look for the helpers! Amen.
