Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord God, this is the day that you have made! We will rejoice and be glad in it! Be with us now as we study our Psalm, and help us to focus and learn what it is teaching us. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen.
Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
O Israel, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: How can trusting in God help us deal with hard situations or difficult people?
Child: What is a shield? How does God act as our help and our shield?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Almighty God, we want to trust you, but that can be hard to do when our minds are filled with worries. Remind us of the many ways you have helped us in the past, so that we realize how truly trustworthy you are. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you trust God and live faithfully. Amen.
