Holy Family Time: September 15th

Friday: Trust

Pray:  Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, help us to understand your Word. Open our minds, so that we want to learn all that you have to teach us. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Listen: Pay close attention to this reminder from Luther’s Small Catechism.

Saint Paul says in Romans, “We were buried therefore with him by Baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4 ESV – quoted in Luther’s Small Catechism)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Why is it important to be baptized? How can the promise of baptism give us comfort all throughout our lives?

Child: Paul says that we can “walk in newness of life” after we are baptized. Does this mean that we never sin again or make a mistake? Why not? What do you think it does mean?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that you reach out to us, and that we may become your children through baptism. May we never take this gift for granted. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you remember that you are a beloved child of God. Amen.
