Sunday: Worship
Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord God, we praise and thank you for all the blessings you give us. We especially thank you for the gift of forgiveness, by which you change our lives in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Listen: Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
Psalm 51:9-11
Turn your eyes from my sin and cover my guilt. 10 Create pure thoughts in me and make me faithful again. 11 Don’t chase me away from you or take your Holy Spirit away from me. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: When we do wrong, why does God choose to forgive us, instead of just turning away from us?
Child: Where do we get to hear the promise of God’s forgiveness spoken to us? Why is this something we need again and again?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Merciful God, just as you came to Saul and forgave his sin, we thank you for coming into our lives to forgive us. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we ask that you would change and renew our hearts each day, so that we would be the people that you want us to be. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
