Tuesday: Struggle
Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord God, give us courage when we are faced with trials. Help us to learn from you today, and to lean on you always. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
Acts 20:8-9
In the upstairs room where we were meeting, there were a lot of lamps. A young man by the name of Eutychus was sitting on a window sill. While Paul was speaking, the young man got very sleepy. Finally, he went to sleep and fell three floors all the way down to the ground. When they picked him up, he was dead. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: Have you ever seen an accident? What happened? Who were the helpers that God sent to the scene, and what did they do?
Child: It’s hard to see someone suffer, especially when their fate is out of our control. What can we do in these situations? How can that make a difference for them—and for us?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Heavenly Father, when we are shaken, remind us to look to you for strength and support. Help us to trust you in all circumstances. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you turn to God for comfort. Amen.
