Sunday: Worship
Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Gracious Lord God, we bow down before you. Thank you for giving us a Sabbath day, when we can rest and worship you. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
Psalm 97:6-7
The heavens announce, “The Lord brings justice!” Everyone sees God’s glory. Those who brag about the useless idols they worship are terribly ashamed, and all the false gods bow down to the Lord. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: The psalm tells us that the Lord brings justice. What does that mean? How can knowing that God makes things right give us hope?
Child: Have you ever had a “false god” in your life – i.e. something that you trusted more than God? What was it? How did you come to realize that?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Lord God, we look at all that is going on in the world, and sometimes we feel worried. Help us to trust you and your timing, above all else. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you place your hope in God above all else. Amen.
