Friday: Trust
Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Giving God, you are the source of all good gifts and you see to our every need. Remind us each day of all you do for us, that we would be truly thankful to you. Through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen.
Listen: Listen carefully to this reminder from Luther’s Small Catechism.
Every day God provides abundantly for all the needs of my life. He protects me from all danger and guards and keeps me from every evil. He does this purely out of fatherly and divine goodness and mercy, though I do not deserve it. Therefore I ought to thank, praise, serve, and obey him. This is most certainly true! (Luther's Small Catechism)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: What does it mean to say that God “provides abundantly” for us?
Child: Does God only care for us because we have earned his love?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Loving Father, we know that we do not deserve all that you do for us, so we thank you for your love and goodness in our lives. Help us to see that, in you, we have all that we need. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
Trust that God is with you and will provide for all your needs. Amen.
