Sunday: Worship

Pray:  Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord God, the Bible continually speaks to us of your loving protection. May our voices be lifted up to praise your name for all the goodness you have shown to us, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Listen:  Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Psalm 19:14-16
The Lord says, “If you love me and truly know who I am, I will rescue you and keep you safe. When you are in trouble, call out to me. I will answer and be there to protect and honor you. You will live a long life and see my saving power.” (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Can you tell me a time when God protected you from danger or harm?

Child: Does God hear me when I call out to him in prayer?  How do I know?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Lord God, even though bad things happen in our lives, we trust that you love us and will always be with us, even in times of trial. Help us see the ways in which you shelter and protect us so that we would not be afraid when trouble comes. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May the Lord watch over you and protect you this day and always. Amen.
