Saturday: Generosity

Pray:  Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father, you have given us the most precious gift of your Son, Jesus. Help us to be truly grateful for the life he has given us, both now and in eternity. May we be bold to share with others all that we have been given. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Listen: Listen carefully to this reminder from Luther’s Small Catechism.

From the Second Article of the Apostles' Creed: "On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead."

What Does this Mean?
He has done all this in order that I might be his own, live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, even as he is risen from the dead and lives and reigns for all eternity. This is most certainly true!  (Luther's Small Catechism)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Is Jesus a king? What does that mean?

Child: What does it mean that we should live under Jesus in his kingdom and serve him? How do we do that in everyday life?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Holy God, help us to see that Jesus won the victory over death, and that he now lives and rules as king over heaven and earth. Help us to be his faithful servants. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May God inspire you to serve others with what he has given you. Amen.
