Friday: Trust

Pray:  Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord God, you have promised that you’re always with us, even when it's hard for us to see you or know you are there. In your Word, help us to listen for the promise of your never failing love for us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Listen:  Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Luke 24:44-49 (ESV)

46 Jesus said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Why did Jesus want the disciples to know that he died for them?

Child: Why does Jesus want us to tell other people about his forgiveness?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Thank you Holy Father, that on the cross you forgave us of all our sins. When others hurt us or make us feel bad, help us to be forgiving people.  Help us to be kind instead of getting even.  In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May the Lord forgive you, and help you to forgive others. Amen.
