Wednesday: Mercy

Pray:  Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Holy Father, you know what we need even before we do. Bless us with your Holy Spirit, that we may trust in what we have not seen, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Listen:  Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Luke 24:44-46 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: What does Jesus mean when he says that he fulfilled everything that was written about him in the Bible?

Child: Why is it important to read and study the Bible?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Lord God, you opened the minds of your disciples to understand and believe. We ask you to use the Bible to teach us and remind us of all that you have done for us, so that we can trust and believe. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May the Holy Spirit fill you with all joy and faith. Amen.
