Sunday: Worship

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gracious Lord God, as we attend worship, may we understand more about you. Teach us, lead us, and draw us closer to you and our fellow believers. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Listen:  Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Psalm 119:124-125
Show your love for me, your servant, and teach me your laws. I serve you, so let me understand your teachings.

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Does God have laws? What are they? Can you give some examples?

Child: What do you do if you break one of God’s laws? Where can you turn?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Lord God, we want to live good and godly lives, but we fall short every day. Help us. Please forgive us when we go astray, and help us to do better in the future. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you live according to the commands and promises of God. Amen.

Saturday: Generosity

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mighty Lord, you reach out to us, just as Paul reached out to the people of Berea. Thank you for caring about us, and for giving us families and friends who care for us, too. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Listen: Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Acts 17:13-15
When the Jewish leaders in Thessalonica heard that Paul had been preaching God’s message in Berea, they went there and caused trouble by turning the crowds against Paul. Right away the followers sent Paul down to the coast, but Silas and Timothy stayed in Berea. Some men went with Paul as far as Athens, and then returned with instructions for Silas and Timothy to join him as soon as possible. (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Why did some Christians travel to Athens with Paul? Do you think that was dangerous for them?

Child: Think of someone who helped you at some point in your life. What did they do for you?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Merciful Lord, we have received so much from you. Now let us share your gifts with others. Show us where we are needed, and give us the strength to serve. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you find good friends, and be a good friend, as well. Amen.
