Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Mighty Lord, thank you for being with us now, as we pray and study together! Bless each person in this room. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
He who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: Why does God say that he is the beginning and the end? What do you think that means?
Child: Saying that people are “thirsty” is another way to say that they are looking for something. What do you think people are thirsty for today? What do you think the “water of life” is, and how can it help?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Dear Lord, you have given us so much, and you continue to bless us each day. Help us to always look to you for living water. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you never lose hope in God! Amen.
