Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O God, as this work and school week draws to a close, thank you for this time of rest and study. Be with us now, as we turn our hearts to you. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
Listen: Pay close attention to this reminder from Luther’s Small Catechism.
He has done all this in order that I might be his own, live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, even as he is risen from the dead and lives and reigns for all eternity. This is most certainly true! (Luther’s Small Catechism)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: What does it mean to belong to God? How can being God’s own child help us to feel safe and secure?
Child: What is your favorite way to serve Jesus in this world? Talk about a time when you did this. What made it special to you?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son into the world to save us! Help us to serve him here on earth all of our days. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you trust that Jesus loves you! Amen.
