Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O God, out of darkness, you bring light. Out of sadness, you bring joy. Out of confusion, you bring peace. Help us to share that good news with others, in both word and deed. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Listen: Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
Then Paul and Silas told him and everyone else in his house about the Lord. While it was still night, the jailer took them to a place where he could wash their cuts and bruises. Then he and everyone in his home were baptized. They were very glad that they had put their faith in God. After this, the jailer took Paul and Silas to his home and gave them something to eat. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: Why do you think the jailer wanted to be baptized? How was God already at work in him?
Child: What did Paul and Silas have to share with the jailer? What did the jailer share with Paul and Silas?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Heavenly Father, you give us everything we need for life – not only the physical things we need, but the spiritual gifts of your grace. Thank you for sharing with us the promise of new life in Christ, and help us to speak that promise to others. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you be generous in sharing the message of Jesus. Amen.
