Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Mighty Lord, you want us to believe. We want to have faith. Keep us close to you, and never let us fall away. Make us stronger, inside and out, so that we may serve you better. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Listen: Listen carefully to this reminder from Luther’s Small Catechism.
God’s will is done when he strengthens us and keeps us steadfast in his Word and in faith to the end of our earthly lives. This is his good and gracious will. (Luther’s Small Catechism)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: What does it mean to be “steadfast” in God’s Word? Why is this important?
Child: How has God strengthened you in your life? Has that been easy or hard for you? Why?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Merciful Lord, on our own, we can do nothing. But when we look to you, and trust you to guide us, anything is possible! Help us to learn the stories and teachings in the Bible, so that they may strengthen us all of our days. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you be strong and of good courage. Amen.
