Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord God, you ask us to trust in you in all things. Give us the power of the Holy Spirit, so that we may believe in your promise and and give you credit for all the good things we have, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Listen: Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
Acts 3:11, 16
Peter saw that a crowd had gathered, and he said: “Friends, why are you surprised at what has happened? Why are you staring at us? Do you think we have some power of our own? Do you think we were able to make this man walk because we are so religious? … You see this man, and you know him. He put his faith in the name of Jesus and was made strong. Faith in Jesus made this man completely well while everyone was watching.”
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: Why did Peter not take any credit for healing the man? Why did he want everyone to know that the man was healed by Jesus power?
Child: Why is it important for us to give all the credit to Jesus for saving us?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Holy God, you are the one who makes good things happen for us. When we are weak, you are strong. Even when we do not have confidence in ourselves, help us to have confidence in you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May God give you the confidence to trust that he will save you. Amen.
