Sunday: Worship

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gracious Lord, we are so blessed to be alive, and to have people in our lives who love us. Thank you for all that you do for us. As we study our psalm now, please be with us and help us to grow deeper in faith. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Psalm 98:4-6
Tell everyone on this earth to sing happy songs in praise of the Lord. Make music for him on harps. Play beautiful melodies! Sound the trumpets and horns and celebrate with joyful songs for our Lord and King! (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: If you could praise God with any instrument, which one would you choose? Why?

Child: What is your favorite hymn or praise song? Why is it special to you?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Lord God, thank you for the beginning of this new week. Help us to think of you and to praise you as the psalm writer describes, for you deserve all of our gratitude and love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you tell someone about God today! Amen.
