Saturday: Generosity

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mighty Lord, thank you for this day! As we continue our Bible study now, please help us to learn more about Jesus and his life here on earth. Strengthen our faith, and guide us always. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Luke 19:36-38
As Jesus rode along, the people spread clothes on the road in front of him. When Jesus was starting down the Mount of Olives, his large crowd of disciples was happy and praised God because of all the miracles they had seen. They shouted, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory to God.”  (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Why do you think people wanted to spread clothes on the road in front of Jesus? How is that an example of giving as well as an example of honoring the Lord?

Child: The disciples were excited after seeing so many wonderful miracles. If you could watch Jesus perform a miracle, what would you like to see?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Dear Lord, while your miracles must have been wonderful to witness, our faith is based on more than that. Thank you for all the things you do for in love, and help us be generous in showing that love to others. In your holy name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you be generous in all that you do! Amen.
