Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Gracious Lord, this is the day that you have made! We will rejoice and be glad in it. As we study and talk about our Bible lesson, let your Holy Spirit draw us ever closer to you. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
There are some who ask, “Who will be good to us?” Let your kindness, Lord, shine brightly on us. You brought me more happiness than a rich harvest of grain and wine. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: How does having a relationship with God bring true happiness?
Child: In what ways does God’s kindness shine on our family? How can we share that kindness with others?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Lord God, you are so good to us! Sometimes we get busy and forget that all good things come from you. Thank you for your many blessings. May we be more aware of them every day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May the joy of the Lord be your strength! Amen.
