Wednesday: Mercy

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Almighty God, you are merciful and kind. Help us to see this again and again, as we learn more about your love for us today. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Revelation 21:3-4
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”  (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: The Bible tells us that God will wipe every tear from our eyes. Have you ever gone through a sad time?  How did trusting in God comfort you?

Child: What are some sad things you would like to see go away? How does it help you to know that God will someday make it so there will be no more sadness?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

God of grace, you choose to live among us, and to be our God. Thank you for loving us even when we aren’t very loveable. Help us to be merciful and kind to others, in return. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May God wipe every tear from your eyes! Amen.
