Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord God, thank you for being with us, especially when things are changing and we feel confused. Be with us now as we study and learn more about your plan for the world. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (CEV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: The New Jerusalem was compared to a bride. How does a bride dress when she’s going to marry her husband? Why do you think she wears such special clothing for that day?
Child: How do you think people in a holy city might act? Would our cities today be better if everyone believed in God? Why or why not?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Heavenly Father, thank you for always working to bring healing and hope to our world! Bless us as we go about our week, and keep our eyes focused on you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May you know that good things are coming! Amen.
