Wednesday: Mercy

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Almighty God, open our ears to hear your Word today, and our minds to understand it. Help us to see your mercy as we learn how you fight for us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Listen: Pay close attention as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Revelation 12: 10
Then I heard a voice from heaven shout, “Our God has shown his saving power, and his kingdom has come! God’s own Chosen One has shown his authority. Satan accused our people in the presence of God day and night. Now he has been thrown out!  (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: The Bible calls Jesus “God’s own Chosen One.” What does it mean to say that Jesus has shown God’s saving power and authority? How does that help us trust in Jesus?

Child: The Bible tells us that Satan accused God’s people, day and night. What does it mean to “accuse” someone? What do you think Jesus says when the devil accuses us?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

God of grace, you do not want us to worry when people say bad things about us. Help us to remember that Jesus has already won the battle for us, and that we need only trust him to be saved. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you know how much God loves you! Amen.
