Friday: Trust

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, you give us a direct line to you through prayer and your Word. Help us to make use of these good gifts, today and always. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Listen: Listen carefully to this reminder from Luther’s Small Catechism.

We should fear and love God so that we do not despise his Word and the preaching of it, but acknowledge it as holy, and gladly hear and learn it. (Luther’s Small Catechism)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Why is it important to pay attention to God’s Word?

Child: Has it ever been hard for you to trust God? How has the Bible helped you?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us churches, as well as pastors who preach and teach from the Bible. Help us to listen with open ears, so that we may learn to trust you more, every day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May you learn to love God’s Word, and find true comfort in it. Amen.
