Friday: Trust

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, you are our refuge and strength and your love for your people is never ending. Guide me in your holy will and fill my mind with thoughts that please you. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Listen: Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Acts 13:50-52
The Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. 51  But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. 52  And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Has anybody ever tried to get others to turn against you? What does that feel like?

Child: When people treat us badly, how can we try not to act badly in return? What would Jesus want us to do?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for your grace and mercy. Help us not to let the bad things that other people do make us do bad things to them. Teach us how to forgive, and not give up our faith in you. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May the mercy and forgiveness of Jesus be at work in you. Amen.
