Saturday: Generosity

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you … in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have made us your children, and that we can call upon you in good times and bad.  We pray that you would give us generous hearts, and use us to answer the prayers of others who are in need. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Listen: Listen carefully to this reminder from Luther’s Small Catechism.

God encourages us to believe that he is truly our Father, and that we are truly his children, so that we may boldly and confidently pray to him, just as beloved children speak to their dear father.  (Luther's Small Catechism)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: God is our loving Father in heaven. Why is it important to know that we can always talk with God in prayer?

Child: As a family, why is it important that we pray together?  Is there anyone in need that we can pray for right now?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Holy God, you have given us so many good gifts, including the gift of prayer. Thank you for hearing us when we call on you. Help us to entrust all our cares and concerns into your hands. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

May God be with you, and let you know that you are never alone. Amen.
