Friday: Trust

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord God, you have called people to lead ministries in your church and have blessed them with the ability and faith to make things happen. Help us to trust in the call you put on our lives, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Listen: Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Acts 6: 5-7
Then the apostles prayed and placed their hands on the men to show that they had been chosen to do this work. God’s message spread, and many more people in Jerusalem became followers. Even a large number of priests put their faith in the Lord. (CEV)

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Have you ever been picked to do something and you weren’t sure if you could do it?

Child: How did the apostles’ show that they depended upon God’s power to do his work? How do we rely on God in the same way?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Almighty God, you are the source of all good gifts. Help us to hear your call on our lives and to trust that you will give us what we need to accomplish your will. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

You have been called by God to serve the world in his name. Amen.
