Tuesday: Struggle

Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.

From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Almighty God, you see us in our need and you come to make things better. Help us always to look to you as our help and healer, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Listen: Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.

Acts 3:1-5
The time of prayer was about three o’clock in the afternoon, and Peter and John were going into the temple. A man who had been born lame was being carried to the temple door. Each day he was placed beside this door, known as the Beautiful Gate. He sat there and begged from the people who were going in. The man saw Peter and John entering the temple, and he asked them for money. But they looked straight at him and said, “Look up at us!” The man stared at them and thought he was going to get something.

Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.

Child: Have you ever seen a person by the road who is begging? How do you think it feels to be passed by?

Child: This man could not walk. What is something you cannot do for yourself  that makes you need to depend and rely on others?

Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.

Loving God there are many in this world who are not seen by others; they simply fade into the background of everyday life. Just as we recognize our own needs, help us to see those who are suffering and help to meet their needs. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.

The Lord sees you in your struggles and in your joys, and he is your source of help. Amen.
