Pray: Begin by making the sign of the cross and calling upon God’s name.
From God to us, from death to life, from me to you …
in the name of the Father, and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Almighty God, we ask that you would help us to trust in the resurrection of Jesus, that we would build our lives of faith on his living Presence with us, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Listen: Listen carefully as these verses from the Bible are read aloud.
Very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, carrying the spices that they had prepared. 2 When they found the stone rolled away from the entrance, 3 they went in. But they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus, 4 and they did not know what to think. Suddenly two men in shining white clothes stood beside them. 5 The women were afraid and bowed to the ground. But the men said, “Why are you looking in the place of the dead for someone who is alive? (Luke 24:1-6 ESV)
Engage: Talk about the Bible by having parents respond to children’s questions.
Child: The story says that the women were afraid. What do you think scared them?
Child: When was a time you came upon something so unexpected that it scared you?
Affirm: Pray for God to put his Word into action in your daily life.
Lord, there are times when we get scared because we don't understand what is going on around us. Comfort us in those moments and help to see more clearly what it is you are doing in our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Have each person in the family bless one another with these words.
May God Almighty grant you peace in all your struggles and fear. Amen.
